AURA ROSE

Some things become beautiful only after they have survived the dark.

Top: Iranian Saffron Tincture, Bergamot

Heart: Thai Agarwood (Oud), Bulgarian Damask Rose

Base: Tonka Bean, Brown Sugar, Amber, White Musk, Moss, Vanilla Absolute, Suede

A rose is beautiful in bloom, but there is something even more captivating about its fragrance when it deepens in the evening, when its petals grow velvety and the air around it becomes heavy with scent. Oud carries a similar mystery dark, woody, resinous, sometimes almost animalic. It doesn't try to be pretty. It simply exists, unapologetically, in all its complexity.

With Aura Rose, I wanted these two worlds to meet without either losing its identity.

But before the rose and oud reveal themselves, the fragrance begins somewhere much closer to me.

Iranian saffron, extracted by my own hands.

There is something profoundly different about working with a material you have personally extracted. You don't simply smell the finished result; you remember the process that brought it into existence. The delicate threads, the patient extraction, the slow release of their character into the liquid.

The saffron opens with a warm, golden intensity, delicately spicy, slightly leathery, with a tobacco like richness. It feels almost tactile, like the warmth of sunlight resting on woven fabric. This isn't a generic sweetness or an explosive spice. It is nuanced, intimate, and quietly radiant.

Then comes bergamot, cutting through that golden warmth with a flash of sparkling citrus. Its fresh, almost bitter brightness lifts the saffron, creating a moment of contrast: the feeling of warm skin meeting cool morning air.

For a moment, the fragrance is luminous.

Then the shadows begin to unfold.

The Thai agarwood emerges with a deeper, more mysterious character. Imagine dark timber after rain, resinous woods warming in still air, and the earthy depth of a forest floor hidden beneath layers of shadow. Its character is complex and textured, giving the fragrance a sense of gravity that draws you closer rather than demanding attention.

And then, the Bulgarian Damask Rose.

Not a watery rose. Not a delicate floral floating somewhere in the background.

This rose is plush, velvety and almost lychee like in a musky way, with a deep plummy sweetness that feels alive against the darker oud. There is a soft, petal-like freshness, but beneath it lies something denser, the impression of crushed rose petals releasing their perfume into warm air.

The two materials begin to intertwine.

The rose brings colour to the darkness. The oud gives weight to the flower. Their meeting creates a tension that is difficult to describe without experiencing it: floral yet woody, tender yet shadowed, familiar yet strangely unfamiliar.

It reminds me of the way people carry contradictions within themselves. We can be loving and guarded, soft and stubborn, hopeful and exhausted. We can want to be understood while being afraid of what happens when someone truly sees us.

Perhaps beauty has never been about choosing one side of ourselves over another.

Perhaps it is about allowing both to exist.

As the fragrance settles, the atmosphere changes.

Tonka Bean and Brown Sugar introduce a smooth, rounded sweetness. Think of warm caramelised sugar, the soft aroma of freshly split tonka, and the comforting richness of something slowly warming in a pan. It is indulgent without becoming a dessert, adding a golden softness to the darker woods and rose.

Amber deepens this warmth, creating a resinous glow that seems to radiate from within the composition. White Musk softens the edges, bringing the fragrance closer to the skin, while Moss introduces a rich, earthy quality, a reminder of the natural world beneath all that sweetness.

Then comes the Vanilla Absolute.

Rich, warm and deeply textured, it lends the base a natural sweetness that feels more intimate than sugary. It wraps around the remaining rose and oud, softening their contrast without erasing it.

Finally, Suede gives the composition its tactile finish.

Imagine running your fingers across finely brushed leather: soft, velvety, slightly dry, with a quiet warmth that seems to absorb the light rather than reflect it. That is the feeling suede brings to Aura Rose. It gives the fragrance a supple, almost second-skin quality, as though the scent has become part of the person wearing it.

The sweetness remains, but it is grounded by woods, moss and musk. The rose lingers in the background, intertwined with the oud, while the saffron's golden character leaves its impression on the journey that came before.

What began as a flash of citrus and warm spice becomes something darker, softer and more intimate.

A fragrance that doesn't simply sit on the skin, but seems to settle into it.

I think about how much of life is spent trying to separate things that were never meant to be separated.

We want strength without vulnerability. Love without risk. Beauty without imperfection. We want to become someone new without having to confront who we have been.

But the most meaningful transformations rarely happen that way.

The rose doesn't erase the oud. The vanilla doesn't erase the moss. The sweetness doesn't erase the darkness.

Each material changes the experience of the others, and the fragrance becomes richer because of it.

That is what I wanted Aura Rose to express: not perfection, but reconciliation.

Not the absence of struggle, but the discovery that something beautiful can emerge from the struggle itself.

And perhaps that is why I love the process of perfumery.

You begin with individual materials, each carrying its own history, texture and personality. Some clash. Some disappear. Some dominate when given too much space.

The work is learning how to listen to them, understanding what they need, and finding the moment when they finally belong together.

Aura Rose is a little like being human.

A little golden warmth. A little darkness. A flower that refuses to disappear into the shadows. A softness that doesn't need to surrender its strength.

It is a fragrance for those who have learned that tenderness and resilience can live in the same person and that the most beautiful things are not always the easiest to understand.
