🍵 MATCHA MOMENT
Matcha is better when you wear it.
Top Notes: Green Tea, Yuzu
Heart Notes: Matcha Powder, Hibiscus
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Vanilla Absolute, Ambrofix™, Beeswax Absolute, Moss
I've always found matcha more fascinating as a scent than a taste.
There's something captivating about its distinctive green character, earthy, powdery, slightly bitter, and unmistakably alive. I wanted to explore that character in a different way. Not in a cup, but on the skin.
Matcha Moment is my argument that matcha belongs in perfumery.
The journey begins with Green Tea and Yuzu. Green tea introduces a clean, delicate greenness, while Yuzu cuts through with bright, zesty citrus. It's crisp, uplifting, and refreshing, like opening a fresh tin of tea and experiencing that first aromatic breath.
Then comes the heart: Matcha Powder and Hibiscus.
Here, matcha takes centre stage. Its earthy, finely powdered character unfolds without the need to taste a thing. Green, delicate, and softly bitter, it meets the gentle floral vibrancy of hibiscus, creating a heart that feels both calming and alive.
This is where the idea comes to life. Matcha becomes something you can experience without ever taking a sip. Its character is translated into texture, atmosphere, and the way the fragrance moves across your skin.
And then comes the unexpected warmth.
Sandalwood brings a creamy, smooth woodiness, while Vanilla Absolute wraps the composition in a rich, natural sweetness. Ambrofix™ adds radiant warmth and lasting depth, while Beeswax Absolute introduces a golden, honeyed softness, reminiscent of sun-warmed honeycomb and the gentle warmth of a candlelit room.
As the fragrance settles, the brightness of Yuzu gives way to the earthy elegance of matcha, softened by creamy sandalwood, enveloping vanilla, and the golden warmth of beeswax.
The result is not a sugary interpretation of green tea, nor an attempt to recreate a cup of matcha literally. It is an exploration of what makes matcha fascinating in the first place, its greenness, its texture, its quiet complexity, reimagined as something intimate and wearable.
Because sometimes, the things we don't necessarily want to taste are the very things we want to smell.
And perhaps matcha is one of them.
