There is something about the way a mother cooks that no recipe can ever truly capture. It's the patience behind every stir, the familiar aromas that fill the kitchen, and the quiet kind of love that finds its way into everything she makes

For me, one of those memories is rice pudding.

I love, love this dessert. The way rice slowly softens in warm milk, how the sweetness develops over time, and how the entire kitchen fills with that beautiful, creamy aroma. It's simple, yet there is something extraordinary about it. Perhaps because the best things in life aren't always the most complicated. Sometimes, they're the things we've known and loved for as long as we can remember.

I wanted to preserve that feeling in a fragrance.

Not just the smell of rice pudding, but the experience of being home, watching Mama cook, waiting impatiently for that first spoonful, and knowing that, for a little while, everything is exactly where it should be.

The fragrance opens with the fresh, green character of pandan leaf and lime. There is a gentle brightness here, almost like walking into the kitchen as the first ingredients are being prepared. The lime lifts the composition, while pandan brings its distinctive, delicate sweetness, setting the stage for the comforting richness that follows.

At the heart, coconut milk, rice pudding accord, jasmine rice, and magnolia melt together in a beautifully creamy composition. The rice accord is soft and comforting, evoking the gentle aroma of rice slowly cooking, while coconut milk lends a velvety richness that feels almost edible. Jasmine rice brings a delicate, grain-like softness, and magnolia adds an elegant floral quality that keeps the fragrance luminous rather than heavy.

Then comes the warmth.

Vanilla Absolute and Cashmere settle into the composition like the final embrace of a familiar memory. The vanilla brings depth, warmth, and a beautiful richness, while cashmere wraps everything in a soft, comforting texture that lingers close to the skin.

The result is a fragrance that feels creamy without being overwhelming, sweet without becoming childish, and comforting without losing its elegance.

But Vivid Rice was never just about creating a beautiful gourmand.

It was about capturing something I could never recreate with a photograph or a recipe alone.

The feeling of Mama's kitchen.

The anticipation of a favourite dessert.

The love hidden in the smallest, most ordinary moments.

Because as we grow older, we begin to realise that the things we want to hold onto most dearly are often the simplest: a familiar smell, a dish we grew up eating, a moment beside someone we love.

Vivid Rice is my love letter to Mama.

A little pandan, a little jasmine rice, creamy coconut, and the warmth of vanilla.
